I love taking pictures of everything but mainly my kids. I have spent a crazy amount of money having their pictures taken by others and would really love to be good enough to take the pictures myself. Ideally, I would love to have my own mini studio in my basement so I could save myself all the countless trips to Lima to the JC Penney portrait studio. I would also really like to take more creative/impromptu pictures of my kids playing and having fun (you know...the really neat pictures that you can get from professional photographers that cost an arm and a leg). I would really love to be able to take these pictures myself and maybe eventually even for friends and family.

"I started getting interested in photography in the seventh grade. My art teacher, friend of the family, received a grant form the state to build and equip a darkroom at the school for classes. During the summer we went to the local photography store and bought all the equipment and turned an old storage room into a darkroom. When the school year started the first thing in art class I did was to signup for pho! tography. The instructor taught us about the camera and then I spent the next week or two taking black and white pictures until the roll was all used. Next we developed and printed the picture in the new darkroom, cool stuff for a kid. Soon after the same teacher started a 4-H photography club and I was one of the first to join. I was in the club for three years and all three years I won Best of Show at the county fair. Even though I had a passion for photography I chose a more practical career in computers and engineering. Now with my kids getting older and the introduction of digital cameras I found a whole new love for photography. I entered several contest and won, one of my photos was published in Popular Photography. Although I still am employed full time at an aerospace company for the past several years I have been moonlighting as a freelance photographer for several newspapers and magazines. Recently I have been working to expand my passion into a small business."
